In order to keep pace with our growth, we seek to a appoint self-motivated, out-of-the-box thinking super star Education Specialist to create all aspects of the Insurance Education Department for the MIA and provide ongoing educational support.Job DescriptionThe Education Specialist will report to the Director of Operations. His/her major objectives will be to assess, develop, and maintain competency-focused curricula, teaching tools and methods, and systems for regular educational evaluation and feedback. The Education Specialist will work to prioritize the needs of each program and develop an action plan, assist with the expansion, enhancement and updating of a core curriculum (i.e. content applicable throughout the micro-insurance industry). The Education Specialist will also work in partnership with the MIA training staff toward ongoing education and the development of an orientation/training program.This position calls for an independent, "out-of-the-box" thinker who is very comfortable with the challenges and changes involved with boldly going where no organization has gone before.Specific responsibilities include
- Handling all aspects involved in creating a a series of training modules
- Supporting the day-to-day management of an international group of experts involved in Insurance Education
- Contributing to reports and publications relevant to microinsurance education
- Other related task as instructed by the supervisor
Qualifications required
- Advanced degree in Education (Ph.D. or Ed.D preferred), or experiential equivalent
- Expertise in adult education
- Experience in providing educational consulting
- Expertise in education with an emphasis in the areas of curriculum development and implementation
- Ability to draw information from multiple sources, to evaluate different program approaches and quality, and to develop proposals and recommendations
- Ability to take a leadership role in understanding and evaluating program curricula and to develop a comprehensive assessment and set of recommendations
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Proficient computer skills
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Demonstrated high professional and ethical standards
- Out-of-the-box thinker with a sense of humor
